Most challenges in relationships are rooted in self-protection.

When we’ve been hurt in our lives, we develop protective patterns that keep us from revealing our real feelings: tenderness, fear, hurt, anger, longing.

This 5-session guided journey will help you and your partner move beneath those patterns and reconnect with the vulnerable, authentic self that real intimacy depends on.

Through somatic body-based practices, you’ll learn how to connect with your feelings, soften defensiveness, and meet each other with more honesty.

Each of you will develop the inner skills that make intimacy sustainable—while together you build the shared capacity to hold more feelings, more trust, more empathy and ultimately, more intimacy.

  • Learn more about who their partner is and what makes them tick
  • Experience more empathy and understanding
  • Strengthen trust, connection, and presence
  • Grow together intentionally

  • You do not need to be in conflict to benefit.  You simply need to be open to exploring each other more deeply.

You and your partner will learn to:

    Your Facilitators

Dov Tiefenbach, Certified Core Energetics Practitioner

“Intimacy emerges when we are invited beneath our partner’s protective layers and experience them in their vulnerable humanity.” — Dov
Relationships represent the ultimate yoga for me. The challenges intimate relationships reveal, romantic or otherwise, contain the medicine that facilitates my growth. It’s tempting to avoid the difficulties inherent in intimate relating altogether, but the alchemy of walking through the fire with a willing partner feels like such a rare and sacred gift. I hold deep respect for the courage it takes two people to reveal their inner worlds as they seek to grow together. I feel honoured to bring my experience as an actor, teacher, Somatic Practitioner, spiritual seeker, and recovering Sex and Love Addict in the service of supporting couples on this journey.  www.somaticselftherapy.com.

Beth Jones, Certified Core Energetics Practitioner:

“I feel most intimate with my partner when I let them truly see me. It’s terrifying to let my ‘ugly’ be seen… and then it’s such a relief.” — Beth

For years, I struggled to find love. My relationships never lasted, and years of talk therapy left me believing I was broken. Then I found Core Energetics. Through body-based work held with deep care, I finally began to feel my real longings and accept myself as I am. Everyone's truth is different, but for me that shift opened me to polyamory, where I've created healthy lasting relationships rooted in vulnerability and honesty. I was so moved by the work, I decided to train as a Core Practitioner and Embodied Relationship Mentor. Now I really love working with my colleague and good friend Dov to help others discover their own truth, and to feel whole in their relationships. bethjones.ca/about

Why These Sessions Are Offered at a Reduced Rate:

This 5-session journey was created as part of our post-graduate research for advanced certification in Core Energetics.

With the support of an experienced supervisor, we’re exploring how a structured sequence of body-based practices can help couples deepen emotional intimacy.

Our findings will be shared with faculty at the Montreal Institute of Core Energetics. (Please note that your privacy matters to us and any identifying details will be removed from our report.)

To support this research, couples will complete brief before and after questionnaires.

And because this work is in the development stage, as part of our advanced training, we’re offering these sessions at a reduced rate while we pilot the program. It’s an opportunity to receive dedicated support from two practitioners, at a discount from our usual fee of $250/session.

“Through my partner's vulnerability, I have clarity on her wanting and the shame that she had been holding, fearing the truth of her wanting would be rejected by me. Additionally, through my vulnerability, I feel more seen… I think it helped us both feel less alone, and actually reinforced the compassion we have for one another.” K.F.

We know there is a safe place we can go to be supported in our struggles.” Y.G.

I feel more ease in saying I’d like to slow this down and stay with the uneasy feelings that are happening right now.” P.D.

    Frequently asked questions:

Do we need to be “in crisis” to benefit?

Not at all. Most couples who come to this work are not in acute crisis — they’re longing for more honesty, connection, or emotional intimacy. This process is designed to deepen your bond, not fix something “broken.”

We’re a queer couple / polyamorous / non-monogamous. Is this work for us?

Yes. We welcome couples of all identities, orientations, and relationship structures. What matters most is your commitment to showing up honestly with each other.

Do we need prior experience with somatic work or therapy?

No. We’ll guide you through everything step by step. All you need is a willingness to feel, listen, and stay curious about yourself and your partner.

What do  you mean by "somatic" or "body-based" work?

Emotions live in your muscles, breath, posture, and nervous system — not just in your thoughts. Through gentle movement, breath, grounding, and guided awareness, we help you sense what’s happening inside and express the feelings beneath your protective habits. It’s not physical exercise or massage — it’s a safe way to access deeper truth and connection.

What if one of us is more open to this work than the other?

That’s very common. You don’t need to be in the same emotional place — only willing to explore together. We work gently, at a pace that feels safe for both of you.

What happens in a Discovery Call?

It’s a short, relaxed conversation to help us understand what you’re hoping for and to see if this process feels like a good fit for your relationship. There’s no pressure to decide on the spot.

What if we're dealing with something really painful?

This work can support couples who are navigating hurt, disconnection, or long-standing patterns. However, if there is active abuse, untreated addiction, or a situation requiring urgent intervention, this series is not the right fit.

Is this the same as traditional couples therapy?

Not exactly. Traditional behavioural approaches often aim to reduce conflict by teaching new communication skills. Our embodied approach sees conflict differently. When couples are supported to express conflict more directly and safely, the vulnerable feelings underneath can finally be seen and known. Conflict isn’t the enemy — it’s the lifeblood of intimacy. As more honesty emerges, the conflict naturally shifts.

    Are the facilitators a couple?

No. Beth and Dov are friends and colleagues who share a deep respect for each other’s work. Their professional partnership strengthens the container by bringing complementary energies, skills, and perspectives into the room.
